§ 7-24-4-2453. Fare schedule required.

  • A.

    Each taxicab company shall prepare its own fare schedule. The fare schedule along with the method of measurement shall be submitted to the community services director and kept on file with the city. No owner or driver of a taxicab shall charge a greater sum for the use of a taxicab than in accordance with the current fare schedule which shall be posted in each taxicab in plain view of any passengers.

    B.

    Prior to any adjustments to the fare schedule, the owner of the taxicab company shall submit a notice of the fare change to the community services director. The notice shall include the rates or charges then in effect, the proposed rates or charges, the method of measurement of the fares and the dates upon which said proposed rates or charges are to become effective. A copy of said notice will be kept on file with the city.

    C.

    The owner or operator of each taxicab shall provide all potential passengers with an estimate of the total fare to be charged for the trip prior to leaving the pickup location. A potential passenger shall not be charged any fee if upon being provided the estimate, the passenger decides not to engage the taxicab for the trip.
